As this is the beginning of the foundation portfolio preliminary task, we looked at how the media key concepts could be applied to produce a college magazine. We used the acronym LIIAR; language, institution, ideology, audience, representation.
I - institution: Wyke college and the people working at Wyke.
I - Ideology : Values and sense of belief. TheWyke college message is to promote wyke as a community in which respect is essential, and to promote the power of education.
A - audience: Wyke college students ages 16-19. 64% female, 36% male. About 55% of the students are from the East Riding and other surrounding area's. Possibly secondary school children looking at colleges to attend when they leave. Generally middle class.
R- representation: What the magazine will be promoting and the type of story. type face/ angles etc.
